You should also try running Ccleaner. It's free, it cleans up lots of gunk that could be making your computer run slow.

Dear

My solution can help you to speed up PC,

1. Uninstall any software applications including games which are not used every week. These may take up a lot of hard disk space and computer memory

2. Run disk cleanup and delete all unused files. Also run the disk defragmenter.

3. Check for disk errors, the HDD will be checked the next time the computer is started. This can take a 10-20 minutes.

4. Delete all cookies and temporary internet files cached on your computer. (Go to Internet Explorer -- Tools) . Deleting temporary internet files could take some time, if you do not clear your cache regularly. Also delete all history files.

5. Empty your recycle bin regularly . Also delete unused icons and shortcuts from your taskbar , desktop and other places.

6.You only need to download system cleaner software to resolve the problems about your PC. It cleans all things that you want, increases your PC speed, saves more disk space, and helps you to the trouble about hardware upgrade.You can click the website http://computer-optimize.com/

to find the satisfied software

I wish my solution could help you.

good luck!!

Also try out spybot S&D, which I like over AVG. Ccleaner is very good, so keep that. A few things you can do is go into ccleaner->tools->uninstall and get rid of the programs you don't use. Then go to ccleaner->tools->startup and make sure only the outright necessary programs run when you startup windows. After that, check the processes that are currently running on your system (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and search (if you don't already know) which are windows critical processes and which are optional 3rd party processes that do nothing but take up memory. I've found with almost every friend I've ever done this for, that this speeds up their system considerably; especially when first logging into windows.

for the first question open your browser and delete the history.

then go into safe mode and run your anti-virus and spyware programs.

delete unused files

then go to start>run and type in %temp% and delete everything

go back to the run command and type in prefetch and delete everything found there.

Do a disk cleanup

then defrag your computer several times to pack everything forward on the drive.

I wouldn't delete blocked popup's as they will show up again when you get online

First your machine is either XP or it is 2000. We need more details to help you with this. Second blocked popups are not on the machine, they were blocked. No need to delete them.

it can be several reasons:

1.- you're very low on ram memory - add more ram

2.- you're using newer version of operating system on computer

that does not have specifications (ability to run) that

operating system

3.- spyware, malware, adware and you name it what kind of

junk is in yr computer

go to http://www.lavasoft.com and download Ad-Aware

- adware removal - FREE download

go to http://www.ccleaner.com - FREE download and

download CCleaner - spyware removal/privacy tool

go to http://free.grisoft.com and download AVG Anti-Virus

Free - FREE download

go to http://www.zonelabs.com and download firewall so

nobody can enter yr laptop - FREE download

run all these program to remove garbage and protect yr

computer

Answer to yr second question - ALL browsers have pop-up blocker that work great so enable pop-up blocker in yr browsers - they'll do all the job for you - just enable it

Use either C Cleaner or Auslogics Bootspeed. Bootspeed works best with BOTH your problems....

from the "Run" command in the "start" menu, type "msconfig".

XP or Vista:

press windows key + letter R

enter msconfig

press enter

Then click on the "Startup" tab [ XP ]

and you will see everything that gets loaded on boot.

All of those things are candidate to turn off.

turn off ONLY those items that you yourself have added

You may need to start something later if it happens to be a service that is needed for a program or app.

But check it out and you should be able to get your boot speed back up to par.

Run disk cleanup, and de-fragmenter.

These applications are built-in with windows and will help you remove any unwanted files etc.

What's a modem initialization string?

Before your modem software dials a phone number, it initializes (inits) the modem by sending it a series (string) of commands, typically Hayes commands. These commands configure the modem's options for things like error correction, data compression, flow control, and many other parameters. The modem manual should list the Hayes commands the modem recognizes, and what effect each command has.

The important thing about modem init strings is that having the right one often makes the difference between connecting and not. Init strings are fairly specific to each modem. The string that made your friend's modem fly may not work at all for your modem.

Not all programs use simple init strings. Some use settings files, such as Windows 95 .inf files, Mac CCL modem scripts, etc.

Tip: You may also want to try one of these generic init strings:

* AT&F

* AT&F1

* AT&F&C1&D2

* AT&F1&C1&D2

modem strings:

http://www.west.net/~jay/modem/...

Tip 2: For K56flex modems, try one of these generic init strings:

* AT&F+MS=56

* AT&F+MS=56S202=32

* AT&F1+MS=56

* AT&F1+MS=56S202=32

Where do I put the modem init string?

start

INITIALIZATION

enter initialization string in box provided

close and reboot

in addition,install RegSeeker and delete obsolete entries from here
