Why is my laptop so slow?

Question

My laptop has been really slow forever because I rarely clean it (I know, bad me), and whenever i try to play a movie on my laptop it is just so slow that the voices go slower and everything just doesnt go smoothly.
In an attempt to fix this, I ran a Norton Antivirus QuickCleanup and got rid of all the programs that I dont use.
Nothing.
The movies still play really slow and get stuck occasionally and I just don't know what to do anymore to make it faster.

Any ideas please?!?!

to stream good quality video off the net you need a fare amount of download bandwidth, it's probably your internet speed/ if your talking off-line then low ram size can influence video quality

For running slow there are many causes:

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

Spyware/Adware

RAM

De-Fragmenting

Etc.



Below can help you speed up your pc:



For IE, click Tools, Internet Options delete files (offline files) clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want) click o.k., and Restart



For Firfox, press ctrl+shift+del, and click clean private data.



Manage your startup:

Open your Start menu -> Click Run -> In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" -> In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab -> Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.



De-Fragmenting

1. Right click of C Disk.

2. Click properties.

3. Click tools tab.

4. Click "Defragment now".

5. Click Defragment.



You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.



Under steps:

1. right click on the TaskBar.

2. click the Task Manager.

3. click the processes tab.

4. double click the CPU.

5. find if the "System Idle Process" is max.

6. if not right click and click end process.

Hi.

Ur Question is somewhat difficult to answer because there are many reasons for a slowing of a system.But u can get a look at the processes to get a clear idea.



If ur computer has a virus like regsvr.exe or ssvchost.exe or NMIindexingstoresvr.exe then it uses about nearly 50% of the CPU. This Results in a slow computer processes since less amount of cpu is available.



So check this out by pressing ctrl+alt+del to open task manager and clik processes tab.

Well...you already said so. You know what is happening.

You need to clean, clean, get rid of all the clutter in your laptop memory, get rid of all the cookies, and files that you accumulate when you go into the internet (to watch porn or what have you). And any movies or songs that you have stored there ...get them out into a disk ...or somewhere else.

All these junks and clutter is what's slowing down your system and you wont be able to use it efficiently. Sogo now and start getting rid of all the clutter.Click on tools, then internet options,

then delete files (delete all offline internet files), then once this is done (it'll take a couple of minutes if you have tons of clutter there) ...click on delete cookies. Finally click on clear history. You need to do this frequently depending on how much you use the internet and search for things (porno etc.).

1. Turn-off/disable/exit any extra programs that are running the background.

2. Be sure you don't have a virus running in the background.

3. Defragment your hard disk

4. Add more RAM to your laptop

the best thing is to reload windows and format the hard drive at list once a year, or buy system mechanic pro for 29.99 and it will solve all the problems yr laptop has, do not use norton as it takes too much control of yr computer and it slows it. if u do buy system mechanic pro, use it as a trial dhen it will make u an offer for 29.99, cos it costs like 69.99,

Go back to Norton and run a full scan for virus's. It may take an hour or two but it will find virus's that the quick cleanup missed.

well, i have a laptop too and some times it is slow. and i know why. if there is alot of tabs in the tab bar delete them all. that might help. and if you are waiting for it to load when you turn it on, wait for it too load all the way. if you start any earlier it will be slow for sure.
