I have 3 companies that I will not buy from.
Apple- im a software develepor not only are there many tools unavailable for macs, but they dramatically overpriced, I can get a pc with far better specs for 500 dollars less.
Alienware- flashy but that flashy look costs you extra, I can get the specs for 300 dollars cheaper, also their laptops weigh like 20 pounds (no joke)
HP- ive had 3 hp's and I thought I learned my lesson each time
1st time, they have so much crapware that slows down your computer, random apps that NO ONE needs that take up so much speed, there os a way to get rid of all the junkware but I had it for a year so to late to delete everything, you have todo this when you buy it.
2nd time, the laptop melted, literally. My last one had heating problems but this 1 literally melted and broke down, it was on a table not a bed.
3rd time, I bought a special cooling system laptop hp dv7, absolutly amazing specs and was the perfect laptop, work perfectly till the same heating problems occured and almost melted it again.
But its extreamly extreamly extreamly durable, 3 years ive dropped it had parends try to smash it with feet, broke fan took it apart twice and when put it back together had 17 peices that couldnt fit back in, complitly cripple but still works.

So no apple, overprice, no alienware, overpriced, no HP, major heating problems on all 3 laptops ive owned.

Im thinking dell toshiba anyone else have some ideas?

The top rated Windows laptops, in order, are Lenovo, Asus, HP, Dell, and Samsung.

As far as HPs go, I am not impressed with their consumer line of laptops. I have dealt with more than a few which failed due to pretty serious design flaws. The EliteBooks are as solid as a rock and suitable for heavy serious and even abusive environments. The ProBooks are almost as good. I haven't used or worked with an Envy, but I believe they are equally suitable for business use.

Pretty much all of the Lenovo's are suitable for business use, excluding the Essentials line.

You pay more for the business class machines but they are substantially more reliable and durable than the consumer lines.

Take a look at Vision Computers Inc. in Georgia. You can have them build you one of their brand of computers nearly any way you want. You can get their Vision Care for the first year free and you can subscribe further if you like. The best part is that their wait time for technical help on the phone is less than one minute! Throw in a three year warranty of parts and labor, and you have a good deal. You can also buy brand name computers on their web site if you want.

All I've ever owned are Dells. You can go to their website http://www.dell.com and find the link for home computers/laptops, click it, and build your specs online and have it shipped to you. For all the years I've ever owned a Dell, I've only had one issue: one time a hard drive crashed on me. But the computer was 6yrs old when that happened. They are, IMO, the best on the market.

Apple :-

Apple laptop is a no.1 Laptop. Its design is very elegant. Apple once again reigns supreme in the software department. Apple managed to squeeze an impressive 11 hours and 40 minutes of juice out of the laptop using one of Intel’s Haswell processors.

ASUS :-

ASUS impressed us with its innovative designs. ASUS is a company willing to take risks. The brand also outperformed most of the competition in the tech support category. We saw mixed results in the keyboard and touchpad category as well as in software.

its not the brand, its the hardware in it, all computer brands have there own types of gaming laptops, dont go for the the flashy types. i have a six year old laptop that can play skyrim. and i only payed 650$ for it back then. my desk top has a 6770 graphics n it my it can play any game out there so far. so you dont need to much. just makesure the hardwar is good

Believe it or not the ACER,GATEWAY,EMACHINES are great machines and are very reliable. I have been repairing computers for 25 years and rarely if ever saw an ACER come in for repair.. They are all the same company so any will do. The ACERS are the higher end of the spectrum. Otherwise I would say ASUS for the quality. I would Steer clear of Dell retail units and Toshiba..Too many issues and poor build quality.. Dell custom units off the website are not bad.

Regardless what you end up purchasing you always get what you pay for! When you spend the least amount of money on a laptop expect the least quality. It really doesn't matter what brand you buy because most proprietors buy their hardware/motherboards from the same vendors.

I am a builder and have been since 1995!

Acer is good, look for the newest models. They have changed their strategy after buying packard bell.

They use more quality hardware than before.

looking at the hardware/build quality its gonna be asus.

there is no need for a dedicated gpu, so i would invest in the biggest i7 you can get, but those are most of the time still sold in "gaming" rigs...
