Hi everyone! My computer is having a problem now, don't know why or what have I done. My laptop seems to have a high cpu usage problem. All my normal processes (such as windows explorer, internet explorer, task manager, BitComet[p2p torrent], avg, Spyware Terminator) uses up a lot of cpu which a few months ago never did. Due to this, I can't watch videos, youtube, web browsing, games, virus spyware scans and pretty much everything without slowing down and lag everything.

I searched the net for answers, scan it with avg( deleted only tracking cookies), Spyware Terminator + ClamAV integration( deleted a lot of tracking cookies, a few worms and a trojan) downloaded Advance System Care and Glary Utilities( which did a nice job cleaning up everything) but the lag stays.

And so, any solution and advice would be much appreciated^^

Helpful Notes

-70gb hard disc with 35% free space remaining
-At start-up the computer runs smoothly with no lags for around 10 minutes before the cpu usage surge straight up
-The lag will start faster during start up if I watched video files (MKV AVI RMVB)
-With the help of a lot of defragmenting, Spyware Terminator + ClamAV, Advanced System Care and with no help of AVG, my laptop should be running with tip-top condition virus and spyware free
-Havent tried to do a root-kit scan yet, should I?

I would look at your Startup group and remove unnecessary items. Sounds like something was added a while back that is using the CPU time. You may have installed an update or something new and it put something in the Startup group to 'help' you. Things like QuickTime & iTunes do this to make their files open faster but slow your computer down.

If you are using WMP to view your videos, consider using VLC instead. Smaller and does not need codecs. WMP might be part of your problem.

ADDED: Are you using ZoneAlarms firewall? vsmon has been found to use a lot of processor time on some computers. Check your Processes on the Windows Task Manager.

Got the Info below from Vista OS Help.

Click Start, type Defender in the search field, and select Windows Defender when it becomes available.

Click Tools, and then select Software Explorer. The Software Explorer window opens.

Select Startup Programs from the dropdown menu. The left pane below will list programs that launch on startup. Click on a program name to see a detailed description of the program in the right pane.

If the program can be removed, the Remove, Disable, and Enable buttons below will be available. If it is a system essential program, and should not be removed, these buttons will be grayed out.

Right click the task bar, left click Task Manager.

Left click "Processes" tab at top

Left click "CPU" column until it sorts by CPU usage.

Figure out which process is using up CPU the most.

Go to google.com and lookup the process name (an exe file).

Some have reported that Firefox gets into some kind of loops that eat up almost 100% of your CPU. Are you using Firefox?

If so, and you see the Firefox.exe process, right click it, and END process, and see if on the Performance tabbed window of task manager if this reduces cpu usage back to something normal.

I think they know about this issue but so far, no fix.

I have encountered this problem with my computer.

Whatever you done is useless because all those useless things are like 'permanent' in your computer.

What u can do is to get a technician to clear yr C.Drive.

It means to delete all the things, games, files registry etc and make a new one.

If you want to save some of yr files, just move it to a disc or another hard-drive.

I recently cleared my C.drive and my start-up to msn was like less than 1.5min.

Nairobi conjures all of the love and experience of its vivid colonial times and is a good place to pay your vacation, learn more with hotelbye . One of many points worth see is the Nairobi's rich history and tribal tradition is produced to life in its exemplary museums and the Karen Blixen Museum in one of the memorial many visited. Also in Nairobi you are able to visit Nairobi National Park. The park is a rhino sanctuary and safeguards over 50 of these significantly jeopardized creatures. Along with the rhinos, visitors often see: lions, gazelles, buffaloes, warthogs, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and ostriches, and a lot more than 400 species of chickens have been noted in the wetlands and here, the Nairobi Safari Walk is a popular attraction giving animal lovers the chance to spot wildlife on base, and walking paths weave about the location referred to as Hippo Pools. Nairobi happens to be a town wherever full the household can enjoy.

Either you have a virus, or you need to clean your heatsink of the computer because it takes a lot of CPU speed from your computer to control the fan! You would need to open up your computer to clean out the heatsink. I cleaned out the WALL of caked on dust from mine and now it is BLAZING FAST (again)

i would suggest you to pile up more RAM but for now you can just format and reinstall linux. if you have IMP data then first back up the data.
