I have a Toshiba Storm (can't remember the model number) that is older and doesn't have the ability to automatically connect to a wifi network. I already have the network set up in my home, I just need the card that will enable the computer to pick up the signal. What are these cards called? Whenever I search on Google, I always end up with those cards that allow you to connect to the internet anywhere -- dont need that. A link to a product would be amazing!!!

If you have USB Ports in the computer, i would go get a USB Adapter. It's cheaper and easier.

Wireless adapter cards come in 3 forms -

1) USB - these are small and easy transported

2) PCMCIA - This is especially for a Laptop with a PCMCIA slot and can be better if you need to keep your USB slots free

3) PC PCI adapter - only for desktop systems.

All are readily available in your local PC store - eg PC World.

There are two different choices.

If your lap top has a pcmcia slot, the pcmcia wireless adapter is your best choice. Here is one such:

An alternative is a usb wireless adapter. Here is one such:

Regardless of whichever you select you must configure it for your wireless network. Be sure to use all the wireless security your wireless access point will provide as hackers will crash in otherwise.

They are commonly called wireless PC card adapters.

There are a few on this page:

Netgear makes good ones. I had one of theirs in my old laptop. Never failed me.
