I am thinking of getting a Macbook for when I go to college in September. I will be taking Computer Engineering Technology at Sheridan so being able to run Windows is important, however I would also like to learn more about Linux. So is it possible that I can run all 3 OSs at the same time using parallels? (I will opt for 2gb of RAM since 3 OSs will probably bog things down quite a bit).

You should be able to install each in VMWARE or Parallels... but I would recommend partitioning your hard drive and installing one OS on each partition. The Macbook is Intel based so you will be able to run any of those operating systems without Parallels.

EDIT: Parallels will let you run all three at the same time, but parititioning will allow you to run any one of them with all of it's features and abilities. This is preferable if you are working with Computer Engineering.

Parallels, hmmm... you probably can. though i have not encountered that kind of setup much before, i believe it is possible. just check the documentation first to be sure. I run 4 different OS on my Laptop. one is Win XP (just for games), Ubuntu 7.04, & 2 other debian based linux ditributions. i don't run them in parallels though. i just choose one when i boot. i ended up with this setup because of my hobby testing different OS & programs. give it a try Dude. Do a little eading first though.

particular many women and adult males persons have computers which could be configured as twin-boot abode windows and Linux. in many cases this is executed via way of first putting in abode windows on your complicated tension then putting in Linux afterwards. for the time of the Linux set up you will repartition a complicated tension as needed between the two techniques. additionally the Linux set up will set up a boot loader utility that runs whilst the laptop starts. This boot loader will grant you the alternative to %. which attitude will run for that start up up. this is powerful with the completed present day up as much as now Linux distributions including unbuntu, suse, Fedora and mandrake.

u cannot use windows XP and Ubuntu at same time. XP can be used with any other OS except Ubuntu, while Ubuntu won't allow 2 install any other OS

As long as you have enough RAM you can run as many platforms as you want.

The MacBook and MacBook Pro both take 4GB of RAM

Yes, you can but you need to create separate partitions for them.
