Ohh yes, the deadly blue screen of death. I have had quite a few run ins with this problem. It always seems to happen at the absolute worst time.

The Windows blue screen is due to errors in the Windows registry. What happens is the system has trouble communicating and senses something is terribly wrong. So in order to protect itself, it shows the blue screen and then reboots. In order to fix the problem you must fix the errors in the registry.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

First open CCleaner

Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.

To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:

Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.

Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.

afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.

The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.

If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)

The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).

Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.

Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

If the screen stays blue for long enough before resetting, write down that long hex code it shows. Then research into that. It could be hard drive failure, bad ram, or even just a broken boot file. If you can get a windows cd you could repair with that. But if you dont have that, then you may have no choice but to bring to a professional.

Good luck on this one! BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) can be a pain!

As you were using software that was moving data on the disk it is highly likely that you have a lost or damaged file fragment; The information on each allocation unit on the disk points it to the next part of the disk where the next part of the file is stored. If this is broken the file is incomplete. This may stop windows from loading BUT all of your data will still be on the disk. Install the disc into your working PC and do 2 things: 1. copy any data you want to save to your working PC from your not working drive 2. run check disk: go to start then run and type "chkdsk D:/f" (without quotations) (where D is the letter of the drive) Checkdisk may repair the error. When this has finished running shut down the computer and install the dick back into the original computer and see if it starts up.

The easiest and fastest way to solve this problem is to run a registry cleaner software. A registry cleaner can eliminate errors in your record. This record stores all information about the software, drivers, applications and games that are installed on your computer. And in time, it can get bad, because some obsolete entries are not deleted and can lead to what they call the "blue screen of death."By using a registry cleaner http://make-a-computer-run-better.com the blue screen error can be eradicated and increases the speed of your computer in the process. In addition, the blue screen of death will not happen if you regularly check and care for your computer system.

Hello, you need to reinstall windows. You'll have to contact the manufactoror to see if they have an Os disc for you. There might be a price for the disc. If they dont have a disc for you then just buy windows from the store. I prefer windows 7 it's worth the money if you get the upgrade. PimpMyPc

Well it is hard/illegal usually to make your own boot cd.

But you can buy one from tigerdirect.com

Newegg.com

Ebay.com

Geeks.com

Or you could ask one of your friends if they have one you could use.

Or you could try switching operating system to ubuntu which you can get free from their website.

Trying pressing F10 F11 OR F12 and holding it when it is booting up to see if you can restore it that way.

I press my off button, I've made it so it will go to hibernate, that worked, sort of!
