I'm trying to install Internet Explorer on my macbook pro (don't ask, I have no choice)
Firstly, I only switched to Mac yesterday so I'm very in the dark about how things work.
I've downloaded Internet Explorer but I'm getting this message 'Powerpc applications are no longer supported' and I'm wondering if anyone knows a solution?

In SIMPLE apple speak please!

Internet Explorer for Macs was discontinued in 2003. It will not work on a modern Macs which use an Intel processor not the Power PC processor that older Macs use.

The Mac comes with the excellent Safari browser and there are numerous other browsers available.

If you need to convince a badly made web site that you are using Internet Explorer open Safari's Preferences. Click on the Advanced tab and tick the box marked "Show Develop menu in menu bar". Close the Preferences window.

From the Develop menu in the menu bar select User Agent and then a version of Internet Explorer.

As the previous poster mentioned, the Internet Explorer for Mac has not been supported since 2003. The main reason it doesn't work, is because the PowerPC processor architechture is completely different than Intel architechture, which is what is used in more modern Macbooks.

IE for Mac hasn't been supported since 2003. I doubt you could open any web pages without any problems. What's wrong with Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Camino, SeaMonkey, Shira etc. web browsers?
