i have a laptop and ive gotten a hard drive replacement and i install a fresh copy of windows XP and i had comcast internet before the replacement will i be able to get online again with my comcast screen name and password again by going to network connections and making a new connection

You will more than likely need the CDs that came your internet to set up that internet connection. If you are able to connect to the internet using internet explorer it should allow you download the comcast info so you can connect to them and then use your screen name and password.

Yes the comcast account you had was on a server outside your computer. So just set up the new network connection and then go to the comcast homepage and log in.



Don't forget to go to tools internet options and type in www.comcast.com as you home page.

Yes, you can do that when you make a new connection just keep your settings on automatically detect proxy settings and everything will be back to normal as it was.

you have to call comcast to re-register your modem if you are not using a router.
