My Graphics card broke in my HP Pavilion DV9088EA. It was broken possibly due to heat damage. Is there any way i can repair it as the graphics card is built into the motherboard and it would be a costly repair. I am a serious gamer and am thoroughly upset at this. I am using ubuntu now because Windows will only run Low-Res. I have tried a new install but it always dies when i install the graphics driver. So i have to go inso safe mode to uninstall it.
Please help me

when you run the original recovery cds does it give you this issue? because if you're getting hi rez from ubuntu

then id says its not an issue with the graphics card

but an issue with the driver or software conflict

besides the graphics is on board and if it failed it would not power on with video at all

The interated graphics card is toast, and it would be $$$$$ to replace, probably more than a new notebook.

You can add an external graphics adapter that connects via USB. No idea about the performance, but it should be enough to keep up.

Buy a same mother board then replacing the one in your damaged computer. You can do it by yourself, just mark every thing before you start or shoot pictures with camera.

Just get a new graphics card, your onboard will not be possible to fix.
