Question:
If I buy a laptop do I need to buy another ISP package?

I want to buy a laptop to take away with me. I already have an ISP on a PC. Do I need to buy another package that will let me connect to the internet? Or, can I just wifi and get onto the net from there, or plug into someone else's broadband connection (with the wire) and get at my email and ISP provider ffrom there?

If your desktop is connected via DSL or cable you should set up a home network so that your laptop can connect through it.

But, when you start up your laptop you might find there's a nearby WAP that will give you a better connection than your wired system.

The desktop computer we have downstairs is wired via Comcast but because the system is old and sub-standard, somewhat slow, so I'm piggybacking with my laptop on a WAP that connects me usually at 54Mbps and I'm not about to pass that up so I usually work in my room upstairs where the signal seems to be optimal.

There are a few things you can do..

1. Check with your isp and ask them about getting internet anywhere. They might just tell you to bring along your router and cables.

2. Connect via wifi, where wifi is available.

(restaurant's and starbucks)

3. Use your cell phone to connect to the internet on your laptop

4. Naturally you can go here,

they list free internet isps you can connect to, and wifi hotspots wherever you live.

ISP is set to an address. It can't be used elsewhere.

You can use someone elses ISP using their modem and login details.

You might be albe to logon wirelessly to their setup if they use a wireless router. Or network cable thru their PC or router.

Some hotels, Pubs, Cafe have WiFi spots you can use.

You can buy a data card which goes into your laptop and uses a mobile type sim card, not cheap to run.

depends on the ISP. If it's a broadband ISP. Cable/DSL internet. Then you wont need to get another package deal. All you would really need is a router and the appropiate cable. Wireless prefed. (( excuse my spelling )

IT means that your laptop is not finding or is unable to connect to your wireless internet service. Usually to solve this problem, you need to install the software that came with your router on the laptop to make the computer fully connectable to the router.

You only need the one ISP. Just Wi-Fi your place and you'll be online with both PC and laptop.
