Hook up an external monitor if you have one and the. If you dont see anything, try hit the FN (function) and typically F5 key at the same time. There will be a small design of a monitor or just a square, or written words like CRT/LCD, its all the same. You may need to press those keys two or three times for it to finally work.

To view you will need a monitor as suggested. Otherwise you can buy a cross over cable ( http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=47616 ). It will allow you to access the files from the HP to the Sony.

you can try the EXTERNAL video jack , you need a regular monitor, like for a desktop PC. It will NOT work laptop to laptop for the video viewing, but this will help you prepare to transfer the files from one to another - perhaps via internet, network cable, usb to usb, etc

Buy one of these: 2.5" - 3.5" IDE Hard Drive Cable - Adapter (Connect Laptop Hard Drive To PC)

Take your hard drive out (usually2 screws) hook it up; attach it to USB on good laptop and you can copy any files you need.http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123998

Hook it up to an external monitor and save them from there
