Hi so I bought a brand new macbook air 2012 laptop 3 weeks ago, and 2 days ago i got a kernal panic, and today i got another kernal panic. i only get them when i put my computer to sleep for a while with the lip up. WHY is this happening?! I though apple was supposed to be safe, secure, bug free. I'm worried my computer had an issue, please help. I don't have chrome installed, i installed every update, this started happening when i installed some update for CMS whatever that is, I have OSX 10.7.5 version, if that helps. Please what should i do? If i go to apple will they fix the issue without keeping the computer for a couple days,

Thanks

Don't panic. Have a read through the blog post below and try what's suggested to see if that solves the problem. Although your operating system is different, the issue is identical.

If the above does't work, Give Apple a call. Kernel panics are usually software related and not hardware so it's unlikely Apple will need to keep your computer for a couple of days.

For any "brand new" Mac, restart holding command and R keys for 45 seconds. Then reinstall OS X.

This is always the easiest thing to do for a BRAND NEW computer... if yours is really brand new. One of my computers... I bought it brand new two years ago.

I wouldn't be trusting some guy's blog when Apple already tells you exactly what to do. See the articles below.

Oh, wait a second... You say OS 10.7.4??? That's not brand new. Take it back and get a brand new one. All Macs sold by Apple after 24 July have OS 10.8. If you cannot get the shop to agree it isn't new, get the free OS 10.8 upgrade AND INSTALL IT. That might be all you need to do:

"I though apple was supposed to be safe, secure, bug free."

Who told you everything made by Apple is perfect? No one ever claimed that, not even Apple. You may be quoting some Apple-hater's sarcasm.

A Kernel Panic is caused by something (either software installed or hardware plugged in) that is not compatible with the system.

You say...

"this started happening when i installed some update for CMS whatever that is,"

That is your problem. Remove or update CMS, whatever that is, to resolve the Kernel Panics.

In the future do not install anything when you do not know what it is or if it is compatible with your system.
