Okay, so I'm going to be getting a new laptop tomorrow, and I'm not sure what kind of computer I want. I have used PC's all my life and I have been thinking about getting a Mac but I really like PC's. I just know Mac's have a lot going for them. What are the pro's and cons of both? I know I want a computer with a good layout, good for college life, durable, fast, and great memory. Assuming price is not object, do you have any suggestions?

They both have their pro's and con's.

- PCs are cheaper, so you can buy a new one after a few years and you'll probably end up spending less money.

- They have more software compatible. If your college program uses a lot of software, most likely they will only run on Windows (e.g. engineering students need to use a lot of technical software, most of those programs don't support Mac OS).

- Most high-end video games are designed for Windows, assuming you have the right hardware.

- Windows usually requires updates and is more vulnerable to viruses, however Win7 has increased security compared to other Windows versions.

- If you are a computer techie you can tweak stuff in Windows

- Macs are more expensive but tend to last longer.

- MacOS is pretty much invulnerable to viruses. However, if you like to tweak computers, you won't be able to.

- Video and music editing and graphic design software are better on Mac computers, (great if you are planning on becoming a DJ or graphic designer).

- If you are a computer science major, you might like Mac better since MacOS is based on UNIX.

- Since MacOS is based on UNIX, the system is more stable.

- If you want to run Windows software you can install virtual machines to emulate Windows (Parallel Desktop, Virtual PC, CrossOver, etc), but you'll still have to buy a copy of Windows to use it.

Other than those facts, they are both computers and do pretty much the same. Don't buy one or the other because of fashion trends.

extra promoting, a extra robust promoting and marketing team, trouble-free layout, homogeneity. computing device is surely any computing device no longer a mac, and needless to say they're going to run the gamut in high quality/cost/layout. for this reason the only ingredient that Macs relatively have over each and every computing device is they might run Apple proprietary application. there is likewise a picture ingredient that i'm noticing with Macs. by way of their branding and promoting Macs are pointed out as "cooler" than their computing device counterpart in specific subcultures. i'm for the reason that an outstanding form of you place down 'virus unfastened' as between the best execs of a mac. That besides the shown fact that has to do with the Unix based working gadget run on the Mac somewhat than the Mac itself. If computing device shoppers are so prone, they might additionally get an endemic unfastened working gadget in considered one of many Linux flavors.

MAC's USE to have an edge in photo editing back in 2005 with their G4 and G5 processors, since they switch over to Intel processors, it's back to PC. Mac's are just overpriced computers for people that fall into marketing traps.

Seriously, The virus' argument ? You don't get those if you don't goto seedy sites and download crap you shouldn't be.

Well PC and Mac are 2 different things my friend!

They both have good and bad things about them (Pro's and con's)

PC-Most common thing people use everyday

-Easy to manage with

-Many softwares require a PC

-Not as easy to get Viruses and Torjans (Etc Hijackers)

-Lots of help if you need it

-Many cool programs come with the computer

-Best Prices

-Many cool types

Mac

-Harder to use

-Easier to hack

-Eaiser to get viruses

-Easier to slow down the Mac

-Not many programs support it

-Expensive

-Not many types :P

I've had expriences with both, and I've now chosen PC for good and it is the best !

If you want to pay a premium price and you're going to use it for Video editing, get a mac.

If you want to do everything else, get a PC

I prefer macs, the tech behind them kicks microsofts ***, and it's more difficult to get viruses on it due to the various different codings. But, it's a hell of a lot more, and do you want to learn how to use a new operating system?

I agree^

Mac is more beneficial for art students.

But that doesn't mean that non art student can't use it.

Get a Mac cuz it will last longer, no PC virus, faster, great resolution, great built-in programs. (iMovie is 100x better than Window's Movie Maker)

Someone answer my question about MacBook?
