Hi,

Please use a cross lan cable to connect both. You need just setup IP addresses in PC and laptop and both would connect to each other as lan connected PCs.

Now just transfer data as ususal. This would work 100% .

Right take some notes down here, because if you dont and do it wrong you may loose all your data....

What you need to do is get your hands on some white string, not cotton, not rope, string..

Tie knots down the entire peice of string leaving gaps of 12 centimetres in between the knots (any bigger and the data will not make it to the next knot, therefore you loose that peice of information forever), at either end you need to make a loop, about the width of a medium sized large cup of beans..

NOTE- The end that will be connected to PC needs to have a bigger loop due to the fact that this will have more data than the end which will be receiving the data..

To connect the string you need to get some black trecle and heat it up in a pan with 2 leaves from an apple tree, than is no more than 398 metres high.

Once the leaves are soggy, quickly put one leaf on the PC and one on the Laptop, and lay the loop ontop of your still hot leaf..

Congratulations you have now connected the two devices together...

All you need to do is click on the "START" icon on the bottom left page (from your PC) to commense the transfer of data..

Hope this Helps!!

Options:

1) Network the PCs. Using a crossover ethenet cable, you can connect the PCs together. You will need to know a little about networking. The IP addresses of both PCs need to be on the same subnet and they both need to have the same Workgroup.

2) Build a LAN. If you have one PC connected to the internet, then you can put the other PC on the internet also. Buy and installed a router and connect it between you Cable/DSL modem and you PCs. Connect both PCs to the router. Turn on File Sharing and you can copy away.

3) Burn several DVDs

4) Buy a external USB Harddrive. Simply connec the drive to one PC and copy. Then connect to the other and copy.

What one of the people answering your original question is what I do , I have an external hard drive that plugs into ANY computer with a USB plug and that way if you change your computer again you have only to plug it in and use it either with your PC or as well as

well, if you have a large enough thumb (has various names) type drive, upi can transfer to that, then take it to your other computer and take it off of that and you can have it on both, Just takes time.

you can buy a external harddrive which has enough space. They sell them at argos.
