Out of the box you will have your Macbook up and running in minutes, but preparation will make the switch even easier. So make a list of things you will want to know and prepare for.
1. Are you going to be moving data from your old PC to your Mac? If so learn how to do this you have several choices.
2. Who is your Internet Service Provider and your E-mail Account with. If you plan on using The Mail Program on the Mac and it's a POP/SMTP or IMAP. Get your user name, password, pop server info and SMTP info ready. You can input it when the Macbook first starts up and it sets up everything for you. Is your ISP DHCP, PPPoe, find out cause you may need a user name and password if it's PPPoe. If it's DHCP Automatic, your Mac will connect right away.
3. All your music, where is it and how to get it to your Mac. Do you have an external HD, is it on your PC's HD. In iTunes under file is a selection to "Back Up to Disc" Back Up your PC Music library so you can put it on your Mac. It's so simple to put it on your new Mac, you just drag the files onto the open iTunes Application and iTunes does the rest.
4. All your Pictures, same thing with iPhoto you just drag the files you want onto the open iPhoto application.
So your confusion and possible frustration can totally be eliminated if you know what to expect. Once you master the differences between the 2 platforms all you will be left with is the amazement of how easy a Mac is to use. You'll have your own website, posting your own pictures with Videos you made playing music you made in Garageband laughing about it on your video iChat with your friends.
