Some questions about Macbook?

I'm currebtly using Microsoft, but I'm planning to switch to Apple.
But first I would need to know some things.

I got the Word 2010 package. Does that work on a Macbook as well? Otherwise, is it possible to download the OpenOffice package for Mac?

Plus, I'd need the computer for math class and we have to use the program Geogebra. Can I download that for Mac as well?

Is there any way to print stuff I have on my Mac using a HP printer? If not, is it possible to put the file I want to print on a USB and then open and print it from my other notebook?

Last question, is it true that Apple computers break more easily? I mean, like, that the battery stops working soon after buying it? My mom's friend says that happened to her son, and therefore my mom says I should rather buy another notebook. So should I even buy a Macbook or is it better to buy another?

I’ve had MacBooks for years. After about 4 years you have to replace the battery.

Microsoft Office 2010 will run just fine on your Mac one of these ways:

- Install Microsoft Windows into BootCamp (comes with Mac OS). Then install Office 2010

- Install Parallels, then Microsoft Windows, then Microsoft Office. Gives you the luxury of running Office 2010 (and all other Windows software) in Mac OS X simultaneously with other Mac applications

There is a Mac version of Microsoft Office, but Office 2010 is better, so stick with that one since you already have it.

word works on mac

openoffice is free on mac

type in geograbra on google to dload 4 free

u can connect the macbook wirelessly to the hp printer and yes you can print off usb > notebook but export any docs to pdf form first

Despite the hate, apple is a quality brand that yes, mark-up prices a lot. It's more expensive but because apple designs there own hardware and software, they are less prone to hacks and pretty much dont get viruses. they are hugely user-friendly, especially to person who's never used a macbook before its proven those who work off apple products are more productive than those using other brands. apple products break just as easily as any other laptop. my choice for laptops has always been mac. i have another PC desktop that i leave for games and such but because your in school i would get the mac

I) You need to by a new office/word package or maybe you can just get pages (the apple equivalent)

II) You can get GeoGebra for Mac, for free (I looked that up, why couldn't you)

III) Printer will work fine with mac - you don't need to even install software. You plug it in an it will recognise the printer.

IV) Apple computers are just as durable as any other I think - my girlfriend's MacBook has lasted five years, and is still going strong.

Finally, let me just say that they are certainly worth the investment. The extra money for a Mac is annoying but totally worth it. They are easy to use, even for people that aren't great with computers - and with all due respect that sounds like you.

yes, probably, yes, probably not. Buy the Macbook but it is probably slightly more expensive.
