Problems with volume control?

I can see the volume icon on the right of my taskbar, but I when I click it the adjusting thing doesn't pop up so I can't adjust the volume. I even tried using a special button on my computer to adjust volume and it doesn't work. I also went to Control Panel "Adjust system volume" or something like that and it doesn't work either.

By the way, the sound is still functioning, I just can't adjust it. I was using it perfectly fine and this problem popped out of nowhere.

Anyone have any ideas as to the problem? I'm sure I can just restart my computer, but I would prefer to be able to resolve the problem without resorting to that.

my keyboard actually has an adjusting button for the volume. if you have that, use it. if you don't, then just try either clicking the volume control once or twice again. this rarely happens to me, but it does happen. *munches on cheez its*

also, my speaker has a volume control knob on there. see if you have one. if nothing worked, try contacting the company online about your volume.

Reinstall the drivers for your sound. That might fix the issue.
