Unfortunately this error means your Hard drive is physically starting to give out. When you get this error its time to replace the Hard drive. If the computer is under manufacture warranty you can send it to apple or have them send you a replacement hard drive. When you get the hard drive you just have to pop the lid on the computer, pop the old one out, and put the new one in.

If its not under warranty then you just have to go to your local electronics store or even go online to places like www.newegg.com and purchase a replacement hard drive. I would suggest you a drive but unfortunately, you don't list if its a laptop or a desktop.

SMART is a physical drive scanner. It scans hardware to make sure it works physically.

SMART errors usually occur for one of two reasons: 1) the drive was knocked around while reading/ writing to the disc or 2) the drive is wore out physically.

In some cases you can scan for the bad sectors and the OS will not use any bad sectors that are marked. In windows( not familiar with MACs) this is usually checkdisk (CHKDSK) though their are other programs that can do it as well ( check downloads.cnet.com for safe programs)

In most cases you will need to replace the drive, unfortunately.

Your hard drive is dead. Get a Windows 7 PC or something.
