I am trying to connect my VGN N21E to my TV. I bought a VGA to TV cable last week, and have attached a S-VHS lead to it. No matter what I do, nothing shows up on my TV.

What am I doing wrong, this is proper annoying me.

You need to toggle the video output. Pressing the function key, FN, in conjunction with the F7 key toggles the video card to use the laptop display, the VGA port, or both.

I would be surprised to see that this actually works.

generally on a laptop there is a key when pressed with a FN key that toggles from the VGA to the laptop monitor usually one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard. If you have all of the connections made properly and the TV tuned to the right input or channel you should be able to reboot the computer and the bios will detect that the VGA adapter is plugged in to a a monitor or tv and switch to VGA mode automatically.

Go to the control panel. Click settings tab. Click dropdown arrow of display. Select the serial no 2 Check the box 'extend my windows desktop onto the monitor'.Click on identify. Your laptop will detect your TV. All the best. Go ahead.

Hello, I use S-Video cable, and it works great. If you have S-Video Port on your computer, I am sure, it would work, S-Video cable can be purchased from Dollar store or any audio video outlets.

Follwoing link would give you more information and how the cable looks like:
