...What do I do to upgrade?
I bought a air card not knowing it wasn't compatible for a 2002 ibook 10.2.8, I was told the laptop is too old. I'm so far from being computer savvy this kind of info would have saved me money if I had known. Anyways I'm not returning the air card yet until I gain info on upgrading my laptop. If all else fails returning the air card will be my best option. Please help!

(1) The White iBook works with the *original* airport cards only, not "Airport Extreme" cards. If your airport card looks like the following, you will not be able to use it:

The proper card should look like this:

(2) Assuming you do have an airport card, it should work with 10.2. However, you might wish to upgrade to 10.3. It can be had pretty cheaply on eBay.

(3) Upgrade it with as much RAM as possible (640MB).

(4) Remember, a 2002 iBook is on the edge of being obsolete. You can use it for some tasks, but even modern web browsing will be a bit of a chore.

There were two types of Apple Airport cards (without BlueTooth): "Airport" (original) and "Airport Extreme". The iBook G3 used the original card. That's what you need. Check your Applications /Utilities folder. Airport software installs by default for the Macs that have Airport slots, even if the card isn't there. If your Airport software has been deleted, use Pacifist to extract it from the OS 10.2 install disc. After that, use Software Update to get any newer Airport software without hunting online, and possibly getting confused.
