So I have an Asus Flip 2-in-1 15.6 Inch Laptop. I brought it several years (3-4 years) back and it has an i5 processor along with a 1 TB hard drive. It randomly stopped working a few weeks back so I sent it to Asus to see what was the issue. Everytime I turned on the computer it would take a long time to load and I could never reach my files on the C drive. ASUS just sent me an email informing me that the hard drive disk is bad and to get it replaced will cost me $300 dollars.

At that price is it worth getting a new hard drive, or should I just invest in a new laptop? All of my files are lost either way so that doesn't matter. Here is a link to the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Laptop-Intel-Black-Silver/dp/B00TIJLLY8

damn you shouldnt have send it. You should have just scanned your Drive and mapped out the bad sectors or repaired them you should have done this command on CMD running as administrator.

chkdsk /f /r

funny because i am using a bad sectored hard drive right now as i type. I used to have the same exact issues you had mine is a 320gb western digital hard disk drive.I DBANed the drive to rewrite 1s and 0s then i installed windows 10 then i did a scan on c: drive then a chkdsk /f /r (3 times). Now it's working like a normal healthy drive.

Anyways if it's possible tell them to send it to you back. You want it back. and do that. (you don't have to dban it) just do the scan and chkdsk /f /r.

For $300... just get a new laptop. No midrange laptop is worth that much being that old, so cut your losses and go new.
