I keep getting this message on start-up of my laptop.?
error msg 1- "windows cannot find C:\windows\svchost.exe',make sure you typed the name correctly and try again".
error msg 2-""could not load or run C:\windows\svchost.exe' specified in the registry.make sure the file exists or remove the reference to it in the registry""

I keep getting these 2 error message whenever i start up my laptop that runs on windows xp home edition.its quite irritating and delays my start up,until i close the messages.
any idea what it means???
help pls.

I have run my antivirus software (avast) & it recently removed viruses. I have windows xp home edition. This problem started to appear after I followed steps to stop my com bringing up my documents at startup. It was in the redigit area. I don't have experience with all these code type of things, so if you know the problem and how to fix it, please give clear step by step instructions.

I have already downloaded and run ccleaner & it says it has fixed all problems, but at start up, I get those 2 msgs again.

& I REALLY don't want to reinstall windows or download more cleaner/antivirus software! can any1 help-just by step by step instructions

p.s apparently I have windows service pack 3 installed

You may need to load into msconfig and look in the startup options and turn off anything that is not requried. This SHOULD stop the errors if it was to do with the virus... i had a svchost virus a good few years ago while i was in school. makes the computer run very very slow on the internet.

to get itno msconfig

start>run>type msconfig>startup

then untick the items you do not want...all you need to keep in here, is you security any graphics and network software you may have..

if the computer is doing things you dont want, load back into msconfig and turn the process back on. If you do not know what a process is, bang it in to google and mostly it will tell you what it is and what it does.

----------------

oh and for the loving dude at the top, an svchost virus will open loads of the svchost process effectivy grinding network use to a halt. If AV software has removed the the registry will still be trying to startup the two viruses. Hence the error message

Well these message appeared to me before. It appears during windows startup.

The pop-up occurs before a virus that might have infected your computer before has created a file in the registry that windows loads up during start-up.

Because you said that you cleaned your PC with an anti-virus, that virus has been deleted and now Windows is loading up a "ghost" file. The registry entry the virus made stated to boot up svchot.exe but because it's missing. Hence your problem.

Try this step-by-step

Open Start >> Run. This will open run window.

2. Type “regedit” (without quotes) and press enter.

3. Follow on through this path here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\

Microsoft\Windows\

CurrentVersion\Run

4. Look for the svchost.exe entry and delete it.

Anyways, I used Ccleaner to fix up my "svchost.exe" problem and it worked like a charm. Try using it again and press Fix all issues.

Anyways, hope I could help you out with this problem of yours.

Ok friend you are facing a same problem people ask me many times.

Actually you have to understand the terminology of an antivirus softaware . When it shows you high alert never delete the file you should heal or quarantine with your antivirus. If you delete the virus which was not actually a virus befor that it was a file which is attacked by the virus . And it now searched as virus. If you delet it its functioning area stops running the program of which the file was. So do not delet virus heal it with software . It stores file at vault and let u access the program without spreading the virus

It was an service that a virus was using before it was removed. go to run. type MSCONFIG, then go to start tab. uncheck any start up item that you do not know. then restart.
