Toshiba, Hp, Dell, Asus are all decent brands and float around the $1200 range. When you purchase Toshiba/Hp they come with a DVD burner the built in web-cam and of course a wireless adapter card for wifi. Basically Dell and Asus you need to configure it and buy it from the site, Dell is great for really getting what you want with out having to buy the stuff you don't need. You can choose all the components of the laptop and have it shipped to your house for free.



All laptops come with the 'wifi' (wireless adapter card) built-in, I recommend a dual-core processor (AMD Turion X2 TL-60 2.0GHz+ // Core 2 Duo T7250 2.0Ghz+) for high end computing with a laptop. These range a little over $1200 but those are higher end processors. I don't know if Australia has the computer retail stores we have here so I cant tell you where to go.

I bought my HP Pavilion last April for less than $1,000 at Best Buy in the US. It has all those features, plus more.
