I was given a IBM Thinkpad for X-mas (used) and the battery want hold a charge for no more then 10min. I am trying to find out where I can locate the series on the labtop. Any help would be appreciated.

Your Thinkpad model number can be found in one of two places (or both). First, there should be a letter/number designation on the LCD's plastic border (usually the bottom right) or above the keyboard. Your other option is to locate the 7 digit machine code that's found on the bottom of the laptop. It will be in XXXX-XX format where "X" represents a letter or number. Go to www.ibm.com and search for that machine code and you'll be able to find the model number and the original equipment it had when it left the factory.
