This worked for me, so I hope it works for you too. I understand how frustrating computer problems can be, so best of luck!

If you use Internet Explorer:

Go to Internet Exporer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings

Make sure "Automatically detect settings" is checked, and "Use a proxy server.... etc" is not checked.

If you use Firefox:

Go to Tools > Options > Advanced tab > Network tab > (under "Connections") Settings... > make sure that "No Proxies" is selected.

No other way.. go to a friend with internet and bring your thumb drive.

download all the drivers on your thumb and start the installations...

Unless your laptop came with a drivers cd...

If you have wi-fi, plug it into the ethernet..and then download your drivers. If you cannot connect using the ethernet, you will need to get a USB and download the drivers to your usb from another computer.
