The updates are just add ons to the first program meaning the 1st program is the operating system for the entire program and the updates are just patches to bring the old program up to date. The updates dont include the duplicate stuff that is on the origional program.

It is like updating your CD colection. You have the 1st two CD's that nickleback put out when the 3rd one came out it wouldnt make sense to buy a box set of the 3 cd's since you already have the 1st two. Since it would just leave you with 2 copies of the 1st two CD's.

Updates are the same there is no sense in the sowtware company re-writting the code for the update that the origional program already does. So they just put the update on it.

You need to clear your Temp internet, cookies and history, run Adaware, and hi jack this. all free to download. then you need to run system tools like disc defrag and disk clean up.

This should speed you up and stop looking at all that free porn it has too much crap on it and all the spyware it installs bogs down your computer

Updates as a rule never make computers faster. They are more often that not correcting a known security issue or fixing a problem with a feature or function of the computer. They can sometimes update drivers or even update the kernel that windows runs on. Though it's prudent to update your computer if your expecting a perfomance diffrence you will be dissapointed. The fact is that every version of software and every subsequent update will make your computer slower but more than likely it's the other things you have added to your computer that is slowing it down. Most computers I see these days have lots of programs starting up with them that are un-necessary. They often have excessive tool bars in there internet explorer. I find usualy by just removing those I solve or eleviate most people's performance issues.

I reccommend:

1. Removing all the tool bars except maybe one.

IE Yahoo, Google, My Web Search more that one is always bad, they will fight.

2. Run startup.exe and uncheck everything your not sure about. If you discover your wrong you can always put it back later.

3. Install the critical updates. They are there for a reason.

Don't delete older security patches. Subsequent updates often run on top of older ones. To start deleting them could corrupt critical operating system files and lower your computer's overall security.

Regarding the slowness of your computer, it could be a variety of factors. You should first run your security products (antispyware and antivirus) to ensure you haven't any malware. You can then check to see if you have too many programs running that is draining your system resources (RAM). Also you can run a disk cleanup, chkdsk, and defrag your computer as well as clearing out your browser cache (cookies, history).

If you determine that it is a system resource issue, you can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan.

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc), graphic card and malware all compete for system resources.

below is a few ways you can tweak your system for free and clean everything out Id also suggest you try and install XP SP3 RC1 instead of installing all the updates you can find it on Microsoft's web site

here is what you can run:

WinCleaner Memory Optimizer

avast! Antivirus

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner

Disk Cleanup

Disk Defragmenter

Also configure your msconfig start up and services by going to start > run > type "msconfig" go to start up and services edit any programs you don't need on start up make sure not to mess up windows or anything relating to microsoft. Also you can edit your registry by going to start > run > type "regedit" (((DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING)))

All of this is free download able software you can also clean out you computer jest dust it out can of air and or a air compresser

Don't delete updates. Delete unused or unwanted programs. Dump cookies, history, temporary files. Run a "check disc" and then defrag.

I wouldn't delete the updates because each one fixes different issues. Run disk clean up and disk defrag and that should help. Also you can delete other programs you don't use.

do not delete any updates, they each add on top of each other. Microsoft, uhg. to make your computer run faster, download AVG anti virus, it will scan your computer, should make it faster.
