Question:
Problems with reinstalling windows xp?

I've recently reinstalled windows xp home on my laptop. I initially went wrong and installed a second partition. I reinstalled again and deleted these partitions in the setup menu. I have one partition now, but there's a os choice screen at startup giving me the choice of windows xp home (the correct one) or something like windows default.

In the windows that's currently running, there was about 10 gb being used without any programs being installed. I've also lost abou 15GB that would usually be on a D drive but there is no D drive. In the documents and settings folder, there's a allusers.WINDOWS folder that seems to have automatically backed up things from the previous deleted partitions. I think this might be what's using up all the space. There also seems to be "defualt user" folders.

If anyone knows a way to delete all these folders I don't want, I'll be very grateful.

thank you :)

Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, you just right-click them and click on delete. If they won't let themselves be deleted as system files, you can delete the contents by hand and thus get back your available space.

Well, are you utilizing an entire xp variation? If it's the complete variation then if you position the disk within the force and begin the pc, it'll reload. If this can be a Upgrade, then you are going to now not get the pc to appreciate this can be a set up. Make certain this can be a complete variation---installed force c:,, restart, blinking cursor, then hit any key to begin from c: have the important thing code out----if you're utilizing the disk that got here with the pc they key may not be fundamental.

Reformat the hard drive completely then reinstall XP that will do the trick and save any files you want to save to a disk or USB device
