My college recently sold some old laptops to staff, the only problem is it is password protected. I can still get on the old staff account, I am limited by not being an admin though which limits usability. Is there any way to reset the password for the BIOS?

I am also using Novell Client which needs a password for the admin too, anyone know of any way around these problems?

I know some methods to reset bios password.

1. The best and easiest method: Close OS and shut down the electricity power of computer. Open your computer box, take out the cmos battery from the mainboard. Then the bios password will be reset to blank. Put it back after a few minutes.

2. Follow some tutorials. For example the tutorials:

3. Use the bios password recovery tool http://www.biospasswordrecovery.com, but that is not free!

So I would suggest you the 1st method. Hope it helps.

Depending on the machine you need to know how to get to the BIOS. On some it's F2; others it's F10. Once in the BIOS find the Security section and reset the password. If you don't know the password to get into the BIOS, find a friend that is hardware literate to remove (for about 5 minutes) your CMOS battery, and then replace it. This will reset the Power-On password. If the password that is set on the laptop is a Hard Drive password and you don't know the password you have two choices. 1) buy a new hard drive and 2) keep on guessing until you (possibly) find the right password. Good luck.
