Is it me, or does Apple Hardware break easily?

Am I the only one that hears horror stories about apple hardware failing?

Really:
-My friend's macbook's hard drive became corrupted
-My friend's sister's 3, yes 3, iPhones died (she kept getting new ones)
-My friend's iPod Touch malfunctioned and doesnt work
-My cousin's iPods (two different iPods) both broke (not from accident damage, they just stopped working)
-My other cousin has a new iPod every year because they break
(and, no, these people aren't just careless; they have other electronics that never break)

It's a shame that Apple hardware breaks so easily because their products are great (besides the fact that they break), and they are really expensive.

Has anyone else noticed how often Apple Hardware fails?

I was brought up using Microsoft so that's all I buy / use. My computer is Windows XP (it's 5 years old and running strong). My mp3 player is a Samsung and it's 1 year old ( it's running strong too). Not to mention, that with my Samsung mp3 player I get unlimited free music and videos, nor do I need an engineering degree to run it (like you do with mac / ipods).

I haven't really noticed that they breakdown but I have noticed that it is very difficult to run Apple products when you've been raised on Windows.

The iPods are shady. My first one broke after 18 months, which sucks for something that cost $300. I'm not rich and can't keep replacing them.

My iPod Touch can't upgrade to new firmware and it seemed that Apple admitted this problem. I didn't want to deal with them, since I'm just waiting for it to break down entirely sooner or later.

But some people I know has had their iPod for years and never a hitch.
