Every time I fix the "OS is damaged or missing" with a USB recovery stick it works fine for a day or two and it shyts down again and I have to use the USB stack again! Whats wrong?

Almost certainly a hardware problem probably a failing disk.
All HP laptops have a diagnostic routine built into the BIOS,
As the computer boots, press the ESC key when the HP Splash Screen appears.When the Startup menu appears, press F2 to enter System Diagnostics.and run a diagnostic, hopefully it will find something

Besides the malware removal and making your software better, you might have a hardware problem. Something electrical could damage the files on the hard disk. The disk might be going bad, or you could have a RAM stick fault. There might be a power supply problem. Static discharge could damage files.
That is all that can be suggested from only HP laptop and no details about its age, usage, warranty status, which "OS" runs it.
Contact HP customer support for the help that you already paid for.

you need to start with a complete system examination for malware. then, run your os repair tool
