So I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite P75-A7100 from best buy. I've been using it strictly for school work. I haven't downloaded any programs other than ITunes and Microsoft Office. I installed a anti-virus called Webroot on the day I purchased it but that's it. Anyway, so today I felt like watching Netflix; so I clicked on the app and it got stuck on the splash screen. I thought it was odd. So I went back to the windows 8 menu and tried to open the Facebook app and again it got suck on the splash screen. So I decided to reboot my computer. I shut down my laptop and turned it on again. It was quick but I did not solve my problem. The apps where still getting stuck on their splash screens. I tried to restart my computer but while it was in the process it got stuck in the 'restarting' screen. It lasted more then twenty minutes so I just held on to the power button to get it to shut down. I rebooted it once again and once again the apps where getting stuck on the splash screen. I tried to open skype and it worked, then I tried opening Facebook and Netflix again and still they wouldn't open. I clicked on the 'Maps' app and it worked so I tried the Netflix app again and it work. My question is, what happened to my computer? Is it serious? Should I return it? Was it just a rare occurrence? Please help. I saved up a lot of money to get this computer and it would be a shame if it broke down on me. Then again maybe i'm just paranoid.

Leave the full restore alone for a bit (although the making restore discs is a good idea).

Windows 8 has a refresh feature, this basically wipes everything other than your personal files. Having said that, back them up anyway. Start by searching in settings (bring it up by pressing Windows key+W) and type "refresh", by the time you get to the "f", the option should've turned up in the list. Click, and on the next screen, it's the top button. Click that, and follow any instructions. After a while, your PC will be all fresh and new.

If that doesn't work, repeat but choose the "remove everything and reinstall Windows" option.

Please note though, if you've upgraded your machine from Windows 8 to 8.1, the refresh doesn't work, and you'll have to reinstall Windows.

You don't need to return it.

Copy all of your personal data off to a flash drive or CD/DVD.

Now perform a Factory Restore.

After the Factory Restore is finished, Look through the list of programs. There should be a group of them from Toshiba, one of which is for making the System Discs/Restore Discs. Make those now. If your hard drive ever fails, you will need those to reinstall everything. As long as the drive is working, you can use the built in factory restore, but you lose that if the drive fails. Be sure to make at least one duplicate set of those discs and store them in a safe place. Those are your life line.
