My fat dog decided he wanted to sit on me while I was studying and stepped all over my new laptop, a toshiba touchscreen computer, called a satellite c55t- something and now the trackpad is not working, luckily its touchscreen, what happens is if i restart it the cursor will appear until i log in then it freezes and disappears.

loll that's normal,

find the button called: Fn then look up in the F1-12 section, usually it's F8 or F9 so you need to push Fn+ F8 or F9 depends on your laptop, there should be an image of your trackpad :)

My button was F5. I noticed a picture on the touchpad that looked exactly like a picture on the F5 button. It is very tiny.

Also try the following:

Press the Windows Key + R to bring up the Run dialog.

Type main.cpl and press Enter to bring up the Mouse properties.

Click the Device Settings tab.

Uncheck the “Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached” option.

Press Fn+F9

On a lot of Toshiba Satellite models, this key combination will enable and disable the touchpad.

See if there is a Touchpad lock button

Some models have a button located between the spacebar and Touchpad itself. This is used to turn the function on and off.

Hello, I had this problem too. FN+F5 did not work, so I tried the second suggestion. On mine, the "Disable internal..." was already unchecked, but when I clicked on "Enable", my pointer came back and the touchpad worked again. This is just another option. :)

seems like your track pad is "locked"/disabled. one of the F1-F12 keys should unlock it. look for the one that has a picture of a touchpad.
