My function keys used to work, so i could turn down the volume, mute, change contrast ect, however now they only work if you hold down the FN key. I've tried to change the settings in power settings but cannot find anything! Please help, thanks.

There's nothing wrong with that. That's how it really works. They are special keys that are not found on ordinary keyboard which is why it requires you to press the Fn key to make them work. Do you notice that those hot keys have colored inscriptions that is the same as the Fn key?

I went into apps found a thing called function key clicked it and it poped up a window saying Toshiba function key enables functions when pressing specific keys in combination with fn or something like that and I clicked ok and then I could change my volume and stuff without pressing FN
