quite old/old fashioned.

Except 1024 Mb memory everything is low.

If the procesor is not centrino then it is not a very portable one.

HD is small. average today is double: 80Gb

you pay for xp pro (more expensive then home) but a new Vista will come in a few months.

No dvd writer.... also a default today.

no WiFi, and no gigabit ethernet

14.1 screen is small for a desknote.

Advice .. unless you get it cheap ... look for:

core 2 duo proc

1024mb RAM

80GB at 7200RPM

XP home

WiFi

DVD RW

Vista compatible logo.

The laptop quality depends over the purpose for which you want to use it. If you want to use it for studies / office works mostly using internet and ms office package, its a great laptop. It will run all your applications ms office, photoshop , flash and even you can install developing tools like java etc (in case ur software developer) . You haven`t mentioned the memory size of ur ATI Radeon graphics card. If it has less than 128 MB memory than it is not good to play the latest games. They won`t work over it but old games will like need for speed 5or quake 3.

You have LAN and internal modem to connect internet. That is good and you can buy an external wireless card which won`t be very expensive.

The screen is small as compared to today`s laptops but not too small. I recon its a good laptop but it will be great if it has 128 MB ATI Raedeon or higher so that you run good graphic games over it.

Is there no USB port ? It is useless without it because most of the laptop peripherals comes with USB today.

If you like copying audio/video cds , its ok. But you can`t make copies of DVD. Again depends on what you want to use for ?

The battery is pretty good and hard driver is fairly alright. I recon ur memory slots are already full and even there is no need to increase the RAM (memory) that is already 1024 MB.

I reocn its a fairly good laptop if you don`t concentrate much over playing games/ editing videos etc.

It looks like a pretty good system, but what kind of P4 processor is it? Is it ready to run Windows Vista? If not, when Vista is released in a couple of months and puts XP into the land of "the old OS", you are gonna be pretty ticked off at wasting $500.

Go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them and EVERYTHING that they sell is Vista ready.

II bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.

I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.

Good luck!

Might be LOUD with the P4. I had one that was just too loud for me. Now I have a mobile processor called Intel Duo Core, and it's a lot quieter.

Also, you might want wireless adaptor to connect wirelessly at hotspots, cafes, etc.

The TFT screen might be ok, but nowadays, bright screens like BrightView (from HP, the other companies have different names for them) are the way to go.

But if you don't care about how loud a Pentium 4 might get, and if you don't care about wireless Internet, it's not a bad system.

This is a good laptop, If you going to be putting a lot of music, games, and pictures on it you may want to upgrade the Hard drive (80 - 120 gigs). If you do purchase the laptop, make sure you get at least a 3 year warranty.

Sound like a dell D600 or something???

Its looks like a good package anyway if you are happy with a small screen and not after the latest duo core processor, still very good machine

it's harddrive and modem sucks. It's processor is older two, it should have atleast a pentium D or celeron.

It'll get the job done, but you won't hav much fun on the internet.
