my hp pavilion dv6 3160us trackpad/touchpad is not working downloaded new synaptics drivers and restarted it still not working , went into mouse/devices and it didn't show up on the list , after I Installed the drivers and restarted the computer , the synaptics device list isn't even there anymore. The touchpad has a touch button in the top right to turn the pad on and off and it lights up but it is no longer lighting up anymore or doing anything. Also never buy HP if you HAVE to buy a laptop , get an asus.

It sounds like the touchpad either went bad or may have become disconnected underneath the keyboard. If you are handy with a screwdriver, you can probably fix/replace it yourself. There are many guides out there and they are pretty cheap.
